Social services minister Tanya Plibersek speaks of a letter she received from a mother of three as she responds to the sobering results of Australia's latest domestic, family and sexual violence report. Plibersek says the mother described being a parent today as 'feeling like you're standing at the edge of a field watching something unfold'. Reports of sexual violence were at their highest level ever in 2024, and dropped less than 1% nationally last year, according to the annual report.
